The healing time of a tattoo will take about 4 weeks. General health and condition are an important factor. During healing the tattoo might itch. Personal hygiene is absolutely necessary during the healing process of your tattoo. Right after tattooing the tattoo will be covered with a spray, a sterile compress or a transparent foil.
If the tattoo is covered with a sterile compress or a transparent foil, you can remove this compress after a few hours and keep caring for your tattoo as described below. You should do nothing with the spray, this will wear off by itself during showering. (This will take three to six days).
Take care of your tattoo as described below:
- Avoid touching the tattoo with your hands
- Wash the tattoo with a mild, perfume-free soap twice a day until fully healed.
- Carefully dry the tattoo after washing, with a clean towel or paper towels.
- Keep the tattoo dry as much as possible.
- Don’t put ointments like Purol, Vaseline or similar on the wound.
- Don’t put desinfectants like Sterilon or Betadine on the wound.
- Don’t wear bandages over the wound.
- Don’t wear dirty or tight clothes on your tattoo.
- Avoid contact with swimwater (either chloride or natural). Also don’t use saunas or steam baths during the healing process.
- Don’t put the healing tattoo in direct sunlight or in a sun bed. (Not even with sunscreen) After healing, always use a high factor sunscreen on the tattoo.
- Make sure to contact us when you experience any problems with your tattoo such as redness, bleeding, pus, change of colours and/or pain.
